Austal is a global defence Prime contractor with proven expertise in the design, construction and support of advanced naval ships, multi-purpose high-speed support vessels and patrol boats.
The company has become a leader in the development of innovative, high speed defence platforms that offer multiple mission capability, flexible payload configuration and cost effective, modular construction and customised systems integration.
Naval ships developed by Austal include revolutionary, multi-mission surface warfare combatants, such as the Independence-class Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) for the United States Navy. The unique trimaran hull form of the LCS delivers superior seakeeping, fuel efficiency, survivability and the capacity to carry a large, modular cache of mission packages.
Austal has also developed highly effective, efficient and economical solutions for joint military support operations - with the Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) for the United States Navy and the High Speed Support Vessel (HSSV) for the Royal Navy of Oman. The EPF and HSSV military catamarans are fast, flexible and manoeuvrable; making them ideal for transporting troops, vehicles, cargo and equipment quickly within any theatre of operations - with medium lift aviation support.
Austal designs, constructs, integrates and maintains an extensive range of Patrol Boats for navies, government law enforcement and border protection agencies globally, including the Cape Class Patrol Boat for the Australian Border Force and Royal Australian Navy and the new Guardian Class (Pacific) Patrol Boats for the Commonwealth of Australia (to be gifted to 12 Pacific Island nations and Timor Leste (from 2018 - 2023).
Defence vessels are currently constructed in safe, modern shipbuilding facilities located in Mobile, Alabama, USA and Henderson, Western Australia.
